Y/C is a type of video connection. The Y stands for luminance and the C stands for
chrominance. Y/C, commonly called S-video, is a type of video signal that separates
the color portion of the signal (chrominance) from the brightness portion of the
signal (luminance) resulting in higher picture quality compared to composite video,
which combines the two into a single signal.
S-video eliminates the need for a comb filter or a notch filter and provides a better
picture than a composite connection. If you use an S-video connection, you need a
separate cable for the audio.
